Class 4/23

In class we mostly talked about the final project again. Even though I'm a bit worried about getting it all done and doing it well, I think I have a good idea of how it should be done. We also did a comparative activity looking at Lusi and Bariai, examining the rules between the two languages. Even though I think it's interesting and I like looking at other people's results, I can't imagine devoting my career to historical linguistics and comparative reconstruction. It seems tedious, even though it yields (in my opinion) important results and enlightening information about our past societies. I think I'd rather be a field linguist documenting the grammar of little-studied languages or a social linguist examining interactions and dialects. :)
